“I am proud and honoured to serve as the Chair of the Board of Governors as SAIT moves into its second century of helping students and industry achieve success through relevant, innovative applied education and applied research,” says Culbert.
“I am a passionate advocate for SAIT’s students, faculty and employees. I am excited about the opportunity to help shape SAIT’s future as a global leader in applied education.”
A graduate of SAIT’s Computer Technology program, Culbert has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in the areas of human resources, management information systems and administration as well as strategic planning and corporate governance.
“It’s a great time for Heather to be leading SAIT as Chair,” says Brian Bowman, Director of Alumni and Development at SAIT. “As the first alumna to chair the board in 100 years, she represents the power of a SAIT education. SAIT is a progressive organization and Heather’s appointment signals SAIT’s continued evolution as it embarks on its second century.”
“Heather is not only a great person but a wonderful role model for women everywhere,” says Joanne Johnson TSR’82. Johnson, a fellow Distinguished Alumna and popular XL103 radio host says she’s thrilled about Culbert’s appointment. “I can’t think of a better person to guide the Board of Governors into the next century. Heather’s passion for SAIT is palpable and her enthusiasm is infectious.”
“SAIT is extremely fortunate to have someone with Heather’s depth of understanding and commitment to SAIT as our next Chair,” says Dr. David Ross, President and CEO of SAIT. “As a graduate, Distinguished Alumna, Honorary Degree Recipient, a Chair of SAIT’s Promising Futures CampaignTM and a serving Board member with broad industry experience, Heather brings a unique perspective that will ensure our continued connection to industry.”
